About the event
We are currently reading Buried Seeds by Alexia Salvatierra & Brandon Wrencher, a book about Christian communities of marginalized people that have gathered, organized, and survived together under oppression. This week we will be discussing the intro and chapters 1 & 2. You don't need to have read any of the book to join the discussion!
We are meeting at Firestorm and masks are required there.
Christian theology and Christian scripture have been used both to oppress and to liberate throughout history. Liberation theology proclaims that the God of the Christian Bible has a preferential option for the poor and marginalized. In 2024, we read some foundational works in different areas of Liberation theology, including works by James Cone, Delores Williams, Gustavo Gutierrez, and Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz.
