This month we will be reading Queer Theology by Linn Marie Tonstad. Her book is a fantastic introduction to Queer Theology, walking the fine line between being easy to read and not flattening complex issues. This book moves beyond apologetics (arguing about what you believe, taking on the proof-texters and clobber verses) and into a theology that is shaped by queerness. Tonstad challenges not only long held beliefs about sexuality and gender, but the Christian attachment to patriarchy, Capitalism and other harmful ideologies that have snuck their way into Christian culture. If you're looking to have your theology shaken or are rebuilding after deconstruction, this is a great book to read -- even better to read in community!
